Wildlife on the Wingecarribee Discovering the ‘wild’ in your wilderness retreat

Follow the Wingecarribee River through your patch of wilderness at your Tiny Homes “Rapids” retreat and you are bound to be captivated by some of the most delightful wildlife the Aussie bush has to offer: our resident Platypi.
Your “Rapids” Tiny Home is just a few short steps to the banks of the river they call home. It’s not often you get to watch Platypi in the wild, so this is a rare treat.
Platypi generally live alone but share the ‘neighbourhood’ with others, spending their days in the water looking for food or sleeping in their burrow, or if it’s a warm day, basking in the sun.
Not only could you see a platypus at play, but if you take your time to meander along the banks of the river or explore the surrounding bush, you’ll also encounter kangaroos, plenty of birdlife including the jovial kookaburras, parrots, bellbirds and perhaps even koalas and wombats.
And as dusk gives way to night, the birdsong hushes and there is nothing quite like falling asleep to the bubbling, running river just a stone’s throw away.
So carve out some time during your stay to wander down to the banks of the Wingecarribee – take a rug and a cuppa and settle in or maybe even sketch book or notepad and wait with expectation for something to capture your attention. We dare you not to come away with a smile.
